Recent form
Brisbane got its season back on a level ledging last week after an impressive win over Melbourne, while Collingwood is still looking or its first win of 2024 after losing to Sydney and Hawthorn in its opening fortnight.
Last time they met
That last time these sides met was back in Round 6 last season, and in a bit of an upset it was Collingwood who emerged victorious, to the tune of five points.
Brisbane was left to rue some inaccurate kicking as the Lions led for most of the match, but a late Collingwood goal saw the Magpies snatch the victory away in the final few minutes of the match.
Key stat areas
Brisbane tend to handball the ball more than kick it, while Collingwood tend to kick the ball more than handball it.
Collingwood has been doing better than Brisbane in the hit outs, but Brisbane has been doing significantly better than the Pies in clearances.
Brisbane has a significantly better uncontested possession game than Collingwood so far this season, but Collingwood has been doing slightly better in contested possessions.
Key match up/s
After her efforts last weekend, Ally Anderson will be a particular target of attention for Collingwood’s midfielders.
But, the question for Collingwood is do they heavily tag her or not? They cannot afford to give Brittany Bonnici or Brianna Davey that role because they are too important for Collingwood’s ball movement, but is someone like Mikala Cann the right person for the job? Only one way to find out.
