WEEK 6 of the AFLW season kicks off tonight with a clash between two sides at very different situations in their seasons.

Geelong
Fremantle

GMHBA Stadium
Recent form
Geelong will be looking to get back on the winners list after picking up its first win of the year two games ago. Fremantle meanwhile is building some solid form at the moment, and is currently on a three match winning streak.
Last time they met
Last time these two sides met was almost exactly a year ago, with the match happing in Round 7 last season. That particular afternoon, it was Geelong who emerged with a 24-point win after really restricting Fremantle’s scoring in the first half.
Key stat areas
When comparing the stats of these two sides so far this season, it tells a tale of contrast.
Geelong prefers to handball the ball more than kick it, while for Fremantle it is the other way around.
Although Fremantle has been doing better than Geelong in actually getting the ball, Geelong has been vastly more efficient than the Dockers once they actually have the ball.
Geelong has been doing better than Fremantle when it comes to uncontested possessions, but when it comes to contested possessions it is the other way around.
Key match up/s
With no Amy McDonald in the side for the next few weeks, Geelong’s other inside midfielders are going to need to step up to cover her absence.
Nina Morrison is a very talented player but has perhaps been able to ride the curtails of the likes of McDonald at times this season, so she may be the one that needs to step up and fill McDonald’s role.
Regardless, Morrison and the rest of the Geelong midfield are going to have a big job tonight, trying to contain the influence of the likes of Aisling McCarthy and the returning Gabby O’Sullivan.
