Recent form

St Kilda will be frustrated they got so close to pipping Adelaide last week but could not quite get the job done. GWS will also be disappointed with how last week went and their season as a whole, and will be looking to pick up a second win for 2024 tonight.

Last time they met

Last time these two sides met was almost a year ago to the date, back in Round 7 last season. That particular afternoon GWS initially led, but once St Kilda took the lead at the back end of the first quarter they never looked back as they ultimately kicked away.

Key stat areas

Clearances have not been a strength for either side this season, with neither side having a positive cumulative ledger. St Kilda has the better tackle count, but when it comes to tackles inside 50 GWS has the better count, but neither side has been very strong at tackling inside 50.

Key match up/s

Any team’s success does start in the midfield, and much of St Kilda’s success comes from Jaimee Lambert, and is ably assisted by the likes of Tyanna Smith.

As previously mentioned, clearances have been an area of struggle for the Giants this season, with last week their second worst performance. With things going the way they are for the Giants so far this season, they need to try something different so could chuck someone like Emily Pease in as an inside midfielder, who has got the running ability and the strength to run with Lambert.

That move would also free up their leading clearance winner Alyce Parker to get more involved in the match, and potentially rest forward or push forward to disrupt St Kilda’s biggest asset its defence.
