WESTERN Jets’ huge win over Northern Territory saw them dominate the Coates Talent League Boys Team of the Week for Round 6 with a league-high four representatives. Of the 16 sides, 15 were represented, as Gold Coast Suns Academy had three, while Brisbane Lions Academy, Calder Cannons, Sydney Swans Academy and Tasmania Devils had a pair of representatives

The Northern Academies were particularly prolific in defence, making up four of the six spots. Swans Academy pair Kaiden McNamara (31 disposals, nine marks, five inside 50s and six rebound 50s) and Lachlan Carmichael (32 disposals, 11 marks, three inside 50s and seven rebound 50s) slot into the back pockets, while Lions Academy talent Harrison Bridge notched up a high disposal efficiency from his 27 touches, six marks and nine rebound 50s.
Gold Coast Suns Academy over-ager Caleb Nancarrow made the team once again after clunking nine marks from 18 disposals and also picking up seven rebound 50s. He shared the key position posts with the 193cm Gus Papal who was instrumental in Calder’s win over Bendigo, amassing 27 disposals, 13 marks and 10 rebounds.
Though prolific through the midfield, Thomas Burton worked back when required and is a well-acquitted defender, returning to that role following his 35 touches, nien clearances, seven inside 50s and four rebound 50s.
MIDFIELD

For the second week in a row Giants Academy ruck Jim Houston earned the nod for the starting spot, picking up a productive 21 disposals and eight marks, not to mention 35 hitouts and four clearances in defeat to the Tasmania Devils. He will ruck to National Academy pair Beau Addinsall and Daniel Annable, with the former skippering the team after 35 disposals, eight marks, eight clearances, five inside 50s and two goals, while the latter had a round-high 13 clearances from 23 touches and laid nine tackles.
GWV Rebels onballer Talor Byrne was enormous up at Highgate against Swans, racking up 30 disposals, seven marks, eight tackles, nine clearances and eight inside 50s in that heartbreaking defeat. On the wings are Collingwood father-son prospect Thomas McGuane (36 disposals, five marks, seven clearances, seven inside 50s and two goals) and Essendon NGA talent Adam Sweid (23 disposals, seven marks, four tackles, dive clearances, four inside 50s and a goal.
FORWARDS
HF: Josiah Landy (ER) – Gabriel Stumpf (NK) – Willem Duursma (GP)
F: Jack Miller (TD) – Jayven Tanner (WJ) – Marcus Prasad (DS)
Half a dozen goals to Western Jets’ Jayven Tanner made him an easy choice for full-forward, with the 193cm overager having a day out against the Northern Territory. Next to him is the Tasmanian small who fell one short of his tally with five majors in Jack Miller, while talented Dandenong forward-midfielder Marcus Prasad kicked two and influenced on-ball as well.
At half-forward, pick one contender Willem Duursma slotted two goals from 28 touches and had seven clearances, while Eastern Ranges’ Josiah Landy‘s 25 disposals, four marks, seven clearances, seven inside 50s and two goals was quite the first game in 2025. Switchman Gabriel Stumpf played three quarters in defence before going forward and becoming the Northern Knights’ match-winner with two late goals to run over the top of the Stingrays.
INTERCHANGE
INT: Koby Coulson (GC) – Khaled El Souki (WJ) – Kobe George (GF) – Taj Stanley (NT) – Lucas Wootton (TD) – Hunter Wright (BP)
There is a mix of players on the interchange, with Gold Coast midfielder Koby Coulson and Western Jets’ Khaled El Souki both starring with 30-plus disposals but being squeezed to the bench due to the sheer top-end performances of Round 6. They are alongside Tasmanian midfielder Lucas Wootton and Bendigo Pioneers’ Hunter Wright, while the sole representatives from Geelong Falcons in Kobe George, and Northern Territory in Taj Stanley complete the lineup.
