A CONTINGENT of Oakleigh Chargers and Northern Knights are keeping in touch with Rookie Me Central Medal leader Chloe Baker-West following six rounds of Coates Talent League Girls action. Baker-West polled yet another best on ground in Round 6 – after 41 disposals and nine clearances – and boasts four best on grounds from her half dozen games.
>> RMC Medal votes: Round 1 | Round 2 | Round 3 | Round 4 | Round 5 | Round 6
After being level on 13 votes with Maggie Johnstone in our Round 3 update, Baker-West has polled 12 of a possible 15 votes to break away by four votes, not to Johnstone, but instead a pair of Chargers. Bottom-age goalkicking machine Bailee Martin as the only player to close the gap on Baker-West, polling 13 votes to sit second on 21, while teammate Chloe Bown kept on the same pace with 12 of a possible 15 votes to be on 19.
Johnstone is still very much in the mix following her five-vote effort in Round 6, while Northern Knights’ Marlo Graham has polled an incredible 18 votes from four matches – just two off the maximum – but has unfortunately missed a couple of games so sits level with Johnstone in equal fourth. She is joined by teammate Scarlett Johnson who is the only other player with Baker-West to poll in all six games thus far courtesy of neither the Knights nor Cannons having a bye as of yet.
Still within reach are the likes of Eastern Ranges’ Tayla McMillan, Geelong Falcons pair Georgia Tyrrell and Stella Huxtable, Murray Bushrangers’ Rose Bell and the sole over-ager in the top 15, GWV Rebels’ Isabella Davies who have 14 or more votes in season 2025.
From the teams not already mentioned, Sandringham Dragons’ Macy Watkins has moved up to 12 votes to join Dandenong duo Nalu Brothwell and Alice Cunnington, while just behind them is Giants Academy’s Majella Day (11). Gippsland Power pair Abby Hobson and Grace Dillow have polled 10 votes, with Swans Academy’s Alex Neyland (nine).
From the winless sides, Priya Bowering and Ava Read have managed seven for Tasmania Devils, with Ava Bibby (Bendigo Pioneers) on six and Alex McBride-Loane (Western Jets) polling five. Gold Coast Suns Academy’s Sunny Lappin polled six votes across the four games for the Northern Academy team that finished with a win. The last team to commence its season is Northern Territory with its first of three games against Sandringham Dragons on Thursday.
