Allies unveil stacked 2025 squad

THE 2025 Allies squad has been finalised, boasting talent set to rival that of the historic undefeated side from 2023. A total of 26 players were selected out of NSW/ACT, Queensland, Tasmania and the Northern Territory, with a remarkable 19 being tied to academies in their respective regions.

Of the 11 Queenslanders selected, eight are products of the Gold Coast Suns Academy. That doesn’t include top five prospect Zeke Uwland, who is likely to miss the entire carnival with a back injury, and highly rated midfielder Jai Murray (ankle).

AFL Academy member Liam Hetherton was another key name omitted from the list as he also rehabs a back injury. The 10-player strong NSW/ACT contingent is otherwise made up of five Swans, three Giants, and two border natives out of the Murray Bushrangers.

Tasmania’s representation has been boosted by the inclusions of forward Jack Miller and defender Toby Callow, while the Northern Territory’s sole squad member is ruck/forward Taj Murray. The latter of the three, a National Academy member, is also tied to North Adelaide in the SANFL.

The strength of the Allies’ top-age group is highlighted by the total absence of bottom-agers. Only two over-age (2006-born) players made the cut, with Giants Academy forward Riley Hamilton earning his spot alongside Suns Academy swingman Caleb Nancarrow.

Among the star prospects are likely top 10 selections Daniel Annable, Max King, and Dylan Patterson. A bunch of others are jostling for first round consideration, namely prolific midfielder Beau Addinsall and Swans Academy pair Lachlan Carmichael and Noah Chamberlain.
