2025 CTLG | Round 13 Player of the Week: Mia Anderson

TASMANIA Devils midfielder Mia Anderson was incredible in her side’s big win over Oakleigh Chargers on the weekend, racking up a league-high 37 disposals and recording the most touches by a Tasmanian this year. In doing so, she became the first player from the Devils to earn our Rookie Me Central Coates Talent League Girls Player of the Week nomination.

With Oakleigh’s top-end contingent out at the national championships, the Devils took full control and Anderson was at the forefront of those efforts. She racked up five marks, four clearances and nine inside 50s with her 37 touches, but also critically kicked two goals. Fittingly, her second was the last of the game which helped Tasmania put the exclamation mark on a terrific performance against the unbeaten Chargers.

She was not alone with National Academy members Mischa Barwin (22 disposals, five marks, nine tackles, four inside 50s and two goals) and Priya Bowering (18 disposals, six clearances, four inside 50s and a goal) both shining. Tatyana Perry (21 disposals, three marks and seven rebound 50s) was best-on for the Chargers in the 45-point defeat.

Geelong Falcons and Northern Knights each had a couple of big performers with the former getting the chocolates in the match. Overagers Chloe Bryant (30 disposals, six marks, eight tackles, four clearances and six inside 50s) and Kate O’Brien (21 disposals, six marks, four tackles, 30 hitouts, four clearances, five inside e50s and four rebound 50s) were both great, as was Katelyn Busuttil (30 disposals, four marks, three tackles, seven clearances, four inside 50s and five rebound 50s) for the Knights.

Bushrangers midfielder/forward Nikhita Spiteri (30 disposals, three marks, five tackles, four clearances and 13 inside 50s) had the ball on a string against the Cannons, while Gippsland Power defender Ella Stoddart produced a massive 31-disposal, five-mark and nine-rebound 50 game in a win over Eastern Ranges.

The Bendigo Pioneers and Western Jets each had some impressive performances with Olivia Lacy making her return from injury as bottom-agers Beth Morris and Lacey Nihill caught the eye as did Western midfielder Tayla Olivieri. In the other game, past Player of the Week Alice Cunnington kicked a couple of goals in Dandenong’s big win over GWV Rebels, while Maggie Johnstone helped herself to 10 inside 50s from 21 touches in defeat.
