2025 AFLW Team Preview: Port Adelaide

PORT Adelaide came from nowhere to not only make finals, but knock off Hawthorn in the semi-final to reach the penultimate weekend of action. With the youth at the club only getting better and some returning from injury, expect the Power to be right up the top at the pointy end of the season.

ONES TO WATCH
Key Player: Matilda Scholz
Breakout Potential: Lauren Young
New Recruit: Jasmine Evans
Port Adelaide has a well-balanced team, but Matilda Scholz‘s incredible efforts last year where she won the Power’s best and fairest really stood out as that ultra-athletic ruck who could go forward. Though she sat out the year with a second ACL injury, Lauren Young is one who cannot be ignored as a breakout player in what is essentially her first season, with an ability to play on all three lines but will likely play forward. Also more than likely to set foot inside 50 is the dynamic Jasmine Evans who has elite foot skills and decision making capabilities.

PREDICTION
Port Adelaide has all the pieces to be a very strong outfit and one that can create a potential dynasty. After a preliminary final last season, the Power will no longer fly under the radar, but expect them to live up to expectations and be in the mix as the season goes on. They understandably have a tough draw, but will be fascinating to see how they improve in 2025.
