SIX FUTURE stars, five of which are eligible for the 2025 AFLW Draft. We recap each of the AFL Women’s Under 18 Championships MVPs and what they have offered to their respective states, and can offer to clubs at the elite level.
ALLIES
Priya Bowering (Lauderdale/Tasmania)
Midfielder | 169cm | 02/01/2007
Averages: 19.5 disposals, 2.5 marks, 5.0 tackles, 4.3 clearances, 3.3 inside 50s
Bowering entered the national championships as the top ranked Allies prospect and lived up to all expectations. While known for her contested ball-winning ability and equal strength both overhead and at ground level, the Lauderdale prospect has incredible speed where she clocks around a 3.2-second 20m sprint. That aspect along with her clean hands and defensive pressure makes her a wonderful all-round talent and she arguably has the highest ‘floor’ of the 2025 AFLW Draft crop. One of those players you know exactly what you will get each and every time she runs out on the field.
QUEENSLAND
Sunny Lappin (Southport/Suns Academy)
Midfielder/Wing | 170cm | 28/11/2007
Averages: 25.3 disposals, 4.3 marks, 5.5 clearances, 4.5 tackles, 4.5 inside 50s, 3.3 rebound 50s
A magnificent carnival from the three-club tied talent who boosted her draft stocks from a top 30 player up to as high as possible top 10. A winger of the past, Lappin spent most of her carnival on-ball where she quite simply dominated, using her high running capacity to full advantage. A clever second or third possession ball-winner, Lappin has a big decision at year’s end whether to remain at home with the Gold Coast Suns, or look further south where she has ties to both Carlton and St Kilda where her father, and current Southport coach Matthew, played. One of the biggest top-age seasons across the draft crop.

VIC COUNTRY
Georgia Tyrrell (Geelong Falcons)
Midfielder | 168cm | 04/08/2007
Averages: 17.3 disposals, 2.5 marks, 7.3 tackles, 4.0 clearances, 1.5 inside 50s, 1.8 rebound 50s
Similar to Bowering, when it comes to Tyrrell, you know exactly what you are going to get. The Geelong Falcons skipper is ultra-consistent and an elite defensive player with her tackling pressure and contested ball-winning abilities far above most of her peers. She ticks so many boxes when it comes to the game that she has proven even without that explosiveness, she can still impact both inside and outside the contest. Her ability around the coalface is her bread and butter, but she is a team-oriented player who makes those around her better too.

VIC METRO
Chloe Bown (Oakleigh Chargers)
Midfielder | 173cm | 20/12/2007
Averages: 27.5 disposals, 2.3 marks, 5.5 tackles, 5.8 clearances, 5.3 inside 50s, 2.0 rebound 50s
After starring for Vic Metro as a bottom-ager 12 months ago, it came as no surprise to see Bown leading the way in 2025. She is a high-volume accumulator who can use both sides of her body and go forward to impact as well as through the middle. She stuffed the stats sheet each and every game, and has hardly put a foot wrong all year. Amongst a title-winning squad with a host of stars, Bown elevated herself up and deservedly took home the MVP. A genuine top five prospect who is readymade to go to the next level with her power and smarts already well established in her game.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA
Emma Charlton (South Adelaide)
Midfielder | 160cm | 19/06/2008
Averages: 24.5 disposals, 2.5 marks, 7.3 tackles, 6.5 clearances, 3.5 inside 50s, 2.0 rebound 50s
The bottom-age South Australian also has ties to the elite level, with sister Teah currently running around with the Crows. Though Adelaide would love to combine the Sister Act, it is unlikely the Crows will be in the range where Charlton lands next season, already projecting as one of the top players. Throughout the carnival she won the ball at will and was clean and tough both at the stoppages or in space. She links up exceptionally and really does it all, be it setting up teammates or laying bone-crunching tackles. Though she might be small, Charlton packs a punch and has enormous potential for 2026.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA
Carys D’Addario (Swan Districts)
Midfielder | 168cm | 01/03/2007
Averages: 21.8 disposals, 1.3 marks, 5.5 tackles, 6.3 clearances, 2.5 inside 50s
Another ultra-consistent midfielder who has taken her game to another level in 2025 after an injury-interrupted bottom-age campaign, D’Addario showed what she is capable of in state colours. The Swan Districts onballer is one of the most readymade players in this year’s AFLW Draft, having racked up the ball with ease in the WAFL Women’s, and translated that form against her peers. Her defensive work is superb, she knows her way around the ground to get into ball-winning positions, and her stoppage IQ to read the ball off the taps is arguably the best of any player this year. A huge carnival for the Sandgroper.
