2026 Victorian Girls summer squads revealed

FIFTY of the state’s most promising players are part of the Vic Country and Vic Metro summer squads. Having been told late last year of their inclusions and already having a camp together as part of team bonding and a high performance environment, the 25-player squads were officially released.

Of the 50 players, nine are bottom-agers – or 2009-born players – with top-age talents – 2008-born – making up the bulk of the representatives. Dandenong Stingrays has dominated the Vic Country squad with nine of the 25 players, with only Geelong Falcons (six) having more than three. Bendigo Pioneers and Gippsland Power have a trio of prospects, while GWV Rebels and Murray Bushrangers have a couple of representatives.,

Reigning Talent League premiers Eastern Ranges have eight players in the Vic Metro squad, while Oakleigh Chargers have a half a dozen representatives. Western Jets (four) and Sandringham Dragons (three) have the next highest contingents in the group, while Calder Cannons and Northern Knights each have a couple of players who made the cut.

The likes of Alice Cunnington and Ruby Geurts (Dandenong Stingrays), Greea McKeegan (Geelong Falcons), Grace Dillow (Gippsland Power) and Milly Shortal (GWV Rebels) are already capped at national level from their bottom-age season. Another Vic Country representative in Sophia Green has switched from Murray Bushrangers to Oakleigh Chargers and has fallen under the Vic Metro region.

Vic Metro also has some top-end talent who have donned the ‘Big V’ already with Brylee Anderson (Eastern Ranges), Bailee Martin (Oakleigh Chargers) and Kiara Boyd (Western Jets) all earning spots with the state side in 2025.

Stay tuned to Rookie Me Central, where we’ll profile each player in both squads.
