Positional Analysis
One of two top-end West Perth talents for the 2026 AFLW Draft, Strachan roves well to close friend Cara Dziegielewski, and can also go forward and hit the scoreboard. In 2025, Strachan even spent time on a wing for Western Australia such was the strength on the inside, but with some natural power out of the stoppage and being such a strong offensive player, expect Strachan to predominantly play through the middle and rest forward.
2025 Stats
WAFLW | 17.9 disposals | 1.2 marks | 5.6 tackles | 3.4 inside 50s | 9 goals (11 games)
AFLW U18s | 13.3 disposals | 2.5 marks | 2.0 tackles | 2.5 inside 50s | 1.3 rebound 50s | 2 goals (4 games)
Key Strengths
Strachan has an array of strengths from which she can hurt the opposition. First off her ability to break away from a stoopage or congestion with a mix of speed and power is her big advantage, but Strachan is also a great finisher from long-range. More than a few times she has loaded up from 45m and nailed an important goal on the run, something the West Perth fans know is well within her repertoire.
Overall, Strachan is a well-balanced player, particularly from a physicality standpoint. She will apply the pressure and lead by example, with leadership being a key trait that the West Perth top-ager herself regards as a key strength.
2026
Strachan is a big burst player where she can impact in runs and influence the game both in the middle or up forward. As she builds a bigger tank, she has the potential to impact more consistently for longer, and increase her accumulation in the process. Boasting a nice balance of offensive and defensive traits. Strachan can build on what she’s done in past years and go to another level in 2026.
Summary
Strachan is a highly talented player who is right up there with the best prospects in Western Australia. You could have raffled top spot between her and Dziegielewski with not much between the pair, just the completely different roles. As a whole, Strachan’s traits always interest AFLW clubs and she will be highly sought after in 2026.
