A late-season bolter if ever there was one, Bailey Macdonald impressed enough at school football level to earn Vic Metro selection and a state draft combine invite. The speedster's form for Wesley College translated to four Oakleigh Chargers outings, and his eventual debut in the Big V as Metro clinched this year's National Championship.

Macdonald's bolter status is evidenced in more ways than one, with his run-and-gun style off half-back making him a real eye-catcher. The 18-year-old is not afraid to take the game on, bursting away from opponents behind him and weaving through them with line-breaking pace. He's a genuine transitional threat who suits the slingshot style of some clubs at the top level, which only helps his draft case.

Going forward, Macdonald may look to improve in the way of composure, though his skills are generally quite neat given he so often performs at full tilt. Players with lesser exposure have been selected in previous drafts, though Macdonald certainly comes in a touch behind some of his peers given the run he had to put together to truly enter the draft frame. Having made good on his opportunities, he looks set to be a developable option late in the draft, who could slot in either off half-back or on the wing.
