AFLW Season 7: Big Week For – Round 5

IN a weekly piece throughout the AFL Women’s season, we name the players and teams who will be looking to have a big week in the upcoming round. From underperforming sides to players looking to step up or continue their form, Big Week For highlights those who could be ones to watch over the weekend.

West Coast & Fremantle

West Coast and Fremantle both come into Thursday’s Western Derby in very different situations.

West Coast has had an up and down season thus far, and is coming off an impressive win over GWS last weekend. The Eagles come into the Derby looking to build on last week’s win and keen on getting some consistency into their season.

Fremantle, on the other hand, got the closest it has thus far this season to a breakthrough win, but ultimately drew with Carlton.

The Dockers would love nothing more than to beat their arch rivals for their first full points and with their best players starting to return, will be keen to not suffer too many more losses in case that costs them a finals berth.

St Kilda

After two strong wins to start the season, the Saints have hit a bit of a bump in their campaign, losing their last two matches.

They come up against a Geelong side which is on a similar trajectory with their season, so this is the perfect opportunity for the Saints to rebound and steer the train of their reason right back on track.

Port Adelaide

Port Adelaide makes this list for a very different reason to the previous three.

Last week the Power finally broke through for their first win of the season after comfortably taking care of Sydney, so this week is a big one for them to see if they can build on last weekend’s success and defeat Gold Coast.

Gold Coast will be a tougher challenge, but if they can overcome the Suns it’ll go a long way for the Power’s finals hopes.
