Update | 2023 Rookie Me Central Medal votes
WITH three rounds of Coates Talent League action in the books, it’s time to take a peek at how the Rookie Me Central Medal votes are stacking up. Last year’s number one pick Aaron Cadman took out the inaugural count in 2022, and this time around there’s another top prospect leading the way.
Bendigo Pioneers star Harley Reid is clear atop the standings with 14 of a possible 15 votes across his first three games, having returned two best afield performances. He’s one of just five players to have polled votes in each round to date.
Fellow podium sitters Will Brown (second, 12 votes), Nash King, Jagga Smith (equal-third, 10 votes) and Ryley Sanders (equal-seventh, nine votes) have also done so, but only Colby McKercher and Indhi Kirk boast a perfect haul in their respective two outings, being named best-on in both.
Kirk is the sole over-ager to feature in the top 10 pollers, while King and Smith are joined by Eastern Ranges midfielder Josh Smillie as bottom-agers to crack the list which is otherwise largely dominated by top-age talent.
Only two sides remain undefeated, one of them being Sandringham who top the charts in terms of team votes. The Dragons, led by Brown, have had a group of five players rack up 31 votes, with Eastern the next best region on 30. Seven regions have six different vote-getters, with each having at least two.
