2023 Talent League Girls Player Of The Week: Round 11

A RECORD-BREAKING nine-goal haul made selecting our Coates Talent League Girls Player of the Week easy for Round 11. Oakleigh Chargers bottom-ager Amelie Gladman achieved the feat against Bendigo Pioneers, booting 9.3 from 18 disposals in a clear best on ground performance and one of the games of the year.

The 17-year-old had booted 7.6 coming into the match, but had been building form with three goals in the past two weeks. She exploded against the Pioneers in a dominant display on the scoreboard, eclipsing all her personal bests with 18 disposals, five marks and five inside 50s as well.

Gladman played one game in her debut season last year, picking up eight disposals, but has been a regular in the Chargers’ lineup, playing all eight matches at what is now a return average of two goals per game. Her efforts helped the Chargers take care of the Bendigo Pioneers by 73 points in a 15.16 (106) to 5.3 (33) win.

Though the Chargers are on top of the ladder, Gladman becomes the first player from her side to be nominated for the Player of the Week. It also marks a run of four consecutive non draft eligible players in the award.

Gladman is also a talented cricketer who has played for Box Hill Mustangs in the Women’s Premier League. Naturally a small forward on the footy field, she will gain confidence from the haul heading into the last couple of months of the season.

Her Oakleigh Chargers take on Western Jets next Sunday, July 2 at Werribee from 11am.
