PROFILE:

A tall defender with reliable defensive traits who can also provide offensive run, Siobhan Ross put herself in draft calculations following a strong season. Though coming into 2024 she potentially saw herself as a forward, the amount of depth in the Maroons' forward half compared to their back half was clear, and she solidified her place as a dual-role defender.

Ross not only nullified opponents, but also read the play well and intercepted pushing higher up the ground, and powering her way from half-back to the middle with an aggressive gamestyle. Her natural competitiveness came to the fore, and her run-and-carry was a highlight of her game which otherwise focused on negating a dangerous opposition forward.

Her kicking precision and composure with ball in hand are areas where Ross can further develop her game, though her best role is behind the ball and stopping her opponent as it stands anyway. While a touch undersized to play on key forwards at 172cm, she does well to punch above her height, and is mobile enough to compete with smaller players as well.
