It was Kako’s third best on ground performance of the year, according to the RMC voters, and helped Calder defeat Bendigo by 36 points on the road. The Essendon Next-Generation Academy member now sits equal-ninth alongside Pioneers swingman James Barrat, who nabbed two votes in the same game.
Also polling a vote in the Calder-Bendigo clash was Cannons captain Damon Hollow. He remains his side’s top vote getter and is tied with three other players for equal-fifth. One of them is Gippsland gun Xavier Lindsay, whose 31 touches and 10 marks earned him a third best afield nod for the season.
Also climbing up the leaderboard is Larke Medallist Harvey Langford. The in-form midfielder sits one rung off the podium after amassing 32 disposals, 10 marks and a goal in Dandenong’s loss to Sandringham. He remains four votes off the overall lead, and two away from teammate Cooper Hynes.
Despite not adding to his tally over the weekend, Eastern Ranges star Josh Smillie is locked into top spot with 16 votes, including a high of five best on ground performances. Also on the podium is Oakleigh midfielder Jagga Smith, who swapped the Chargers jumper for a Richmond VFL debut on Saturday.
