Ajang Kuol mun has come a long way to be considered an AFL Draft prospect, and has a long way to go yet. The 22-year-old, born in a Kenyan refugee camp, is a soccer convert who caught the eye playing local footy for Anakie last year. He caught the eye of Geelong's VFL side and in just his second season of football, played five state league games.
While the Cats' booming tall stocks meant he was squeezed back out to local level for much of the year, Kuol mun managed to earn a state combine invite and is considered a prospect with genuine upside. The 202cm talent showed his wares with the top running vertical jump score nationwide (90cm), despite injuring his knee on the attempt.
His competitive nature saw him complete the remaining tests, including the 2km time trial. Endurance is clearly an improvement area, though few could fault his overall work ethic. On the flipside, Kuol mun boasts terrific speed for a tall and is capable of battling to get first hand to the ball. He remains quite raw and lacks the footballing exposure of others, but could warrant a rookie opportunity on pure upside.
