LUCY GREENWOOD PROFILE
DOB: 23/03/2007
Height: 163cm
Position: Forward/Wing
Club: East Perth
West Australian Female Talent Manager Trent Cooper says:
“Lucy had an injury interrupted year last year and really didn’t get going in the National Championships until the last quarter where she kicked three goals against South Australia. Really skilful, smart player and she still had a bit of hangover with the injury from the ankle but she’s now back in full training and expecting her to have a really good season.”
SUMMARY
Greenwood has been a key player for East Perth over the last few years both between the Rogers Cup and WAFL Women’s. She played 25 games in the Rogers across her Under 15 and 16s seasons, before making the jump up to the League side last year. She played all 14 games for the Royals and took part in the side’s historic first ever win over Peel Thunder.
Throughout the middle patch of the season, Greenwood kicked six goals in four games before gaining some experience up the ground. Her versatility to play wing or on-ball as well was on show late in the year between East Perth and West Australian side. She saved her last performance of the National Championships until last, kicking three goals in the last quarter.
What stands out about Greenwood’s game is more her high impact-per-possession in matches. When she wins the ball, she often dodges and weaves or bursts away, before being able to hit targets well in transition. While still building her consistency, it is clear she has an array of top-end, draftable qualities that will attract the attention of clubs.
Greenwood will be key in East Perth’s charge to rise up the WAFLW ladder in 2025, with the talented small capable of filling out a number of positions. One of the most dangerous players for the Royals, expect her to cause a few headaches for opposition coaches as they bid to find a way to quell her influence.
