2025 CTLG | Round 2 Player of the Week: Bella Davies

A LEAGUE season-high of 40 disposals later and Greater Western Victoria (GWV) Rebels over-ager Isabella Davies is our Coates Talent League Girls Player of the Week for Round 2. The versatile prospect can play across all three lines, though on the weekend played up forward and pushed into the middle at times, accumulating the huge effort amongst four goals as well.
Davies left a couple of chances out there with near misses – with an unlucky bounce or saving get from a Bendigo Pioneers defender – but would have gone home happy given her side ran out 90-point winners at Epsom Huntly Reserve on a warm Saturday afternoon.
She not only had the 40 and four, but also laid 10 tackles, took six marks, had three clearances and earned nine inside 50s and two rebound 50s. For all that, Davies still ran at a 73 per cent disposal efficiency, won six hardball gets and had 13 handball receives showing she was willing to win her own ball, or get involved in transitional chains.
The match was part of a triple-header at the venue, with Rose Bell spearheading her Murray Bushrangers side to a two-goal win over Gippsland Power thanks to five majors of her own. Dandenong top-ager Evelyn Connolly went one better with half a dozen majors for the Stingrays in a triple-digit domination of Geelong Falcons a match later.
From the metropolitan games, the pick of the players was Sandringham’s Sienna Sharp who produced a career-best 34 disposals as well as three marks, five tackles, six hitouts, three clearances, six inside 50s and a goal.
From the other matches, Chloe Baker-West was on-song again with 31 touches, nine marks, seven clearances, six rebound 50s and two goals in a loss to Northern, while fellow National Academy member Chloe Bown was at her brutal best in a come-from-behind win for the Chargers over Eastern, with 35 disposals, five tackles, nine clearances and six inside 50s.
