SNAPSHOT: “A reliable, tidy ball winner with efficient skills and vision out of the contest, also capable of hitting the scoreboard.” – Michael Alvaro
Tyan Prindable has taken each step-up in competition in his stride this year. The Brisbane Lions Academy prospect came into the season as a relative unknown, but ended up earning a VFL berth by year’s end. Solid Academy Series and Coates Talent League stints set the platform for his campaign, with the 18-year-old midfielder’s form warranting Allies selection.
Having been overlooked for game one of the National Championships, Prindable continued to grind away and was called into the game two side. He ended up holding his spot with the Allies and moved into the Lions’ state league team post-champs. There, he made five consecutive VFL appearances as Brisbane went on to make the semi-finals, including 20 disposals and six clearances on debut.
That wasn’t the only outstanding debut performance Prindable produced. He gathered 39 touches and nine clearances in his maiden QAFL outing for Coorparoo this year, earning the league’s rising star nomination. He has long been embedded in the Kings’ senior team having played 20 games for them in 2024, before they had earned promotion from the QFA Division 1.

STRENGTHS:
+ Clean hands
+ Consistency
+ Efficiency
+ Scoreboard impact
+ Tackling
+ Vision
IMPROVEMENTS:
- Endurance
- Flair
Prindable has made his name as a reliable ball winner with handy points of difference. His inside craft is clean, able to read the rucks' taps and take possession without fumbling, before guiding his decision making with innate spatial awareness. Prindable's acumen as a clearance machine is evidenced by his average of 4.5 in the Coates Talent League, and ability to prise them consistently at QAFL and VFL level.
His stoppage craft helps open up the game for others, with Prindable possessing reasonable agility to match his skill in exiting the contest. He also has the ability to generate forward chains by hand, producing the give-and-go and tracking the play as his side surges towards attacking 50. In those situations, he lowers his eyes to hit targets on the move and maintains his efficiency away from the on-ball battle.
Another way Prindable impacts around the ball is defensively. He averaged eight tackles per game in the Coates Talent League and 5.7 during the National Championships, providing a useful secondary facet to his stoppage craft. Having spent time rotating forward, Prindable has also become a regular goalkicker. On top of setting up others, he is a slick finisher on his favoured left foot, particularly in open play.
That ability to hit the scoreboard elevates Prindable's hurt factor. He isn't the most striking prospect in the way of flair and X-factor, but rather suits the mould of a no-fuss and efficient natural footballer. His role is part of that, being a feeder for others, although every team needs a player capable of performing that role. He does it so reliably too, maintaining a steady level from week-to-week and just about never missing a game.
On top of enhancing his ability to hurt the opposition, Prindable can continue to develop his contest-to-contest running. He's great at performing in extended spurts moving out of the contest, but can look to become a greater accumulator around the ground. Prindable's 6:48 2km time trial at the National Draft Combine is by no means poor, but shows he can continue to build his running tank to support the strengths in his game.
DRAFT RANGE: 40-60
SUMMARY:
A less-heralded prospect in the grand scheme of Queensland’s immense talent pool this year, Prindable’s National Draft Combine invite signals a positive amount of interest from AFL clubs – not just Brisbane. The midfielder remains open to the stance that “anything can happen” come draft time, with a bit still to play out with regards to pick swapping and forming draft hands. Coming off a second straight flag, the Lions boast an embarrassment of riches in midfield, but could do far worse than to stock up their depth with a player like Prindable. Luckily for them, a bid would likely come later in the piece, although fellow Academy products like Harrison Bridge and Isaac Waller are also up for grabs. His strong on-field connection with high-end Academy graduate Daniel Annable will only help his cause.
