Oakleigh Chargers:

#5 Isabelle Godfrey
Wing | 162cm | 11/08/2008

Stats: 17 disposals, 1 mark, 2 clearances, 2 inside 50s, 2 rebound 50s

While Godfrey is one still building her consistency, she was at her hard-running best on the weekend. When up and about, the bottom-ager is able to transition the ball well between the arcs and set up scoring attacks through transition. Always lively, she can use the ball effectively, setting up Martin on at least a couple of occasions.

#9 Chloe Bown
Midfielder | 173cm | 20/12/2007

Stats: 33 disposals, 3 marks, 5 tackles, 6 clearances, 6 inside 50s, 2 rebound 50s

It was business as usual for Bown who was one of the few National Academy members in action across the Coates Talent League Girls. She racked up the ball with ease and was influential not only around the stoppages but on the outside going forward. Had a real aggressive nature to her game and won multiple possessions within a chain consistently. Set up a few goals as well, with some great kicks going to dangerous positions inside 50 to back her forwards in. Has a big national carnival coming up.

#13 Zoe Curry
Midfielder/Forward | 172cm | 09/10/2008

Stats: 17 disposals, 2 marks, 2 tackles, 5 clearances, 3 inside 50s, 1 rebound 50, 1 goal

A player who makes her teammates better, Curry is a dominant first possession winner who can also still find the ball around the ground. She thrives in close and will win the bulk of her touches off the deck, but is far from a one-dimensional contested ball-winner. The bottom-age Giants Academy member spent time forward and kicked a great goal in the 14th minute playing deep and got reward for that hard running and bruising style around the coalface.

#18 Bailee Martin
Forward | 176cm | 06/06/2008

Stats: 9 disposals, 5 marks, 4 goals, 1 behind

If it is possible to have a quiet game while still kicking four goals, then that was Martin which summed up just how damaging she is. There was not much more her opponent could have done, and while only having the nine touches and not having it all her own way, she kicked straight – with her only blemish being a long-range set shot – and set up a couple of chances too including the first major to Grace To in the opening minute. So strong and quick on the lead, opponents need to be switched on for the full 80 minutes.

#21 Amelie Gladman
Forward | 167cm | 16/06/2006

Stats: 13 disposals, 4 marks, 2 tackles, 1 clearance, 1 rebound 50, 3 goals

Worked hard and got reward for effort with three goals, while also working up the ground. Two of her majors came via set shots with marks on the lead, while the one in between was off hands in the goalsquare early in the fourth quarter. She has worked hard on developing her game to be more than just a finisher and she pressures well, while being an option when the opposition is guarding Martin, and Gladman’s teammates trust her too.

#50 Cleo Barbakas
Key Position Utility | 182cm | 07/01/2009

Stats: 18 disposals, 1 mark, 5 tackles, 13 hitouts, 8 clearances, 4 inside 50s, 2 rebound 50s

Had a huge task through the ruck at times up against Quinn, and while experience wise she was up against it at the stoppages, what really stood out was her second efforts and incredible ability to be that “fourth midfielder”. She even acted as one when not able to win the initial hitout, following up with a thumping kick forward. She covers the ground well, and though raw and developing, has all the traits of being a really exciting future prospect and the coveted term of ‘unicorn’.

Swans Academy:

#1 Charlotte Tidemann
Defender I 169cm I 08/08/2008

Stats: 19 disposals, 2 marks, 2 clearances, 1 inside 50, 6 rebound 50s

The hard-running bottom-ager just did her thing across the match and again looked to break lines consistently. She backs her pace and is not afraid to handball to space and run onto it, and once she picks up and explodes, it is a case of good luck to anyone trying to take her. Being able to collect the ball at speed is very impressive, and there was not too much to fault in her game. She generally uses the ball well and even though in this game there was far more pressure, she followed up with any errors to win it back.

#7 Molly Thomas
Midfielder I 169cm I 22/04/2007

Stats: 18 disposals, 1 mark, 3 tackles, 2 clearances, 3 inside 50s

Is quietly going about her business and put together an impressive four-game carnival. A smooth-moving left-footer, Thomas complements the work of Yerbury with some similar traits but also being that little bit different. She moves well out of the stoppage and once she can get in the clear uses it well. Her vision by hand in congestion stands out, and thought sometimes when under pressure she can just overcook the kick, has a lot of traits to work with going forward.

#16 Kiera Yerbury
Midfielder/Forward I 173cm I 24/07/2007

Stats: 34 disposals, 3 marks, 4 tackles, 6 clearances, 7 inside 50s, 1 rebound 50, 1 goal, 1 behind

Yerbury capped off her Coates Talent League Girls carnival with a bang and is one who could really enhance her stocks at the national carnival. For comparison to last year’s draft, think Daisy Flockart as a really powerful and explosive inside midfielder with the capacity to play on all three lines. She kicked a great goal off a classy finish in the second term, and by half-time had a ridiculous 20 disposals. Yerbury did not slow down though to finish with a game-high 34, and while her kicking can further sharpen up, most other elements of her game are big ticks. Has a lot of upside.

#24 Alex Neyland
Tall Forward I 178cm I 04/09/2007

Stats: 17 disposals, 2 marks, 5 tackles, 2 clearances, 4 inside 50s, 1 goal, 1 behind

Any tall forward who can impact the game when it is not going her way is worth her weight in gold, and Neyland did just that yet again. As a forward she often had multiple defenders around her and then pressure up the field meant she rarely had lace-out passes for her to do what she does best and clunk big grabs. That did not phase her however because she is strong at ground level and automatically looks to apply defensive pressure. With a high work rate and an ability to get back in transition, Neyland converted a set shot from a free kick straight in front of goal 35m out. Will cause a few headaches for defenders the next couple of months.

#32 Madeleine Quinn
Ruck | 185cm | 10/02/2007

Stats: 12 disposals, 3 marks, 3 tackles, 25 hitouts, 3 clearances, 3 inside 50s, 3 rebound 50s

Was by far the most experienced ruck on the ground and made the most of it at the stoppages, doing as she pleased. It was great to see her really grab that full-time ruck role as her ability to impact all around the ground makes her such a versatile and exciting option. Quinn took a couple of really strong contested marks during the third term within a couple of minutes and then in the last, showed why she is a highly touted National Academy member with explosive speed burning off a midfielder followed by hitting up a teammate inside 50.

  • Team
  • Dandenong Stingrays
  • Tasmania Devils

Dandenong Stingrays:

#1 Evelyn Connolly
Forward/Midfielder | 169cm | 26/05/2007

Stats: 16 disposals, 2 marks, 3 tackles, 2 clearances, 1 inside 50, 3 goals, 1 behind

Connolly is one of the most dangerous forwards inside 50 and threatened to take the game by the horns with a late goal in the fourth term to keep the pressure on the Devils’ defence. She also kicked a major in each of the first two terms to finish with a bag of three, and though not her biggest game thus far, was strong defensively and worked up the ground well.

#7 Lillian Snow
Midfielder | 169cm | 10/07/2007

Stats: 17 disposals, 4 marks, 3 tackles, 4 clearances, 2 inside 50s, 1 goal, 1 behind

Arguably the second best for the Stingrays and a player who is really building some great consistency in 2025, Snow kicked what looked to be the match-winner late in the fourth term. Though the Devils would ultimately retake the lead via two behinds, Snow did all she could to get her side over the line. Strong overhead and a threat up forward, she has that point of difference as a midfielder and is a powerful left-footer with great defensive attributes as well. Could have kicked an early major too from a 40m set shot, but was just touched on the goalline.

#9 Nalu Brothwell
Forward | 174cm | 22/10/2007

Stats: 17 disposals, 4 marks, 8 tackles, 2 hitouts, 3 clearances,4 inside 50s, 1 goal

Worked hard in the front half of the ground and even competed up in the ruck as high as half-back. She found more of the ball with her roaming, and not only took a few good marks, but laid enormous defensive pressure too. When her side needed a goal, Brothwell stepped up, slotting a major out of a forward stoppage early in the fourth to kick-start a run of three games. Is an all-round tall forward.

#10 Matilda Argus
Midfielder | 166cm | 08/01/2007

Stats: 27 disposals, 3 marks, 11 tackles, 1 clearance, 3 inside 50s, 8 rebound 50s

Dandenong’s best and had the ball on a string, Argus never stopped trying throughout the four quaraters. Back in her familiar quarterback role off half-back with Mizuki Brothwell playing a more midfield oriented gig, Argus mopped up just about anything that came in her path and provided some crucial run and carry. Her kicking was hit and miss at times, but she looked to break lines and take risks, or just desperately save the day in the backline. Worked hard and mowed down a number of opposing players in what was her most productive game of the season stat-wise.

#12 Alice Cunnington
Forward | 174cm | 30/06/2008

Stats: 13 disposals, 5 marks, 2 tackles, 1 inside 50, 1 rebound 50, 1 goal

Added some spark and X-factor to the front half of the ground, Cunnington was lively throughout the match on the outside with all of her 13 touches being uncontested though that was her role. She has some outstanding athletic traits and smart skills, which she showcased with an outside of the boot goal during the second term against the flow. Not a lot of opportunity up forward but looked dangerous when the ball went in her zone.

Tasmania Devils:

#1 Mischa Barwin
Forward/Midfielder/ | 167cm | 04/12/2007

Stats: 24 disposals, 6 marks, 7 tackles, 3 clearances, 6 inside 50s, 1 behind

One of her best games for the season, Barwin added that evasiveness and class with ball in hand and benefit from Bowering and Lange working in tandem for the first possession at a stoppage. Barwin found space and was a marking option with her slick hands and ability to set up scoring chances standing out in the contest. With scores level she got boot to ball desperately and managed to kick the winning behind, keeping it in her side’s forward 50 too.

#4 Ava Read
Tall Utility | 179cm | 21/06/2006

Stats: 18 disposals, 5 marks, 6 tackles, 1 hitout, 1 inside 50, 5 rebound 50s, 1 behind

Played a lot of time behind the ball then went forward for the last few minutes when the Devils needed a major and kicked a behind to level the scores. That play ensured the visitors would take home the points, with Snow’s goal moments earlier coming from smothering Read’s attempted clearing kick. Across the course of the game, the over-ager was an intercepting force who competed well in the air and was not afraid to impact at ground level too.

#15 Priya Bowering
Midfielder | 169cm | 02/01/2007

Stats: 24 disposals, 4 marks, 8 tackles, 5 clearances, 4 inside 50s, 3 rebound 50s

Has pieced together some consistent footy now she is back in her familiar midfield role, and she was clean at ground level and strong at the coalface across all four quarters. Bowering’s release by hand is a joy to watch and she is just at strong in the air when she needs to be. Providing direction to teammates around the ground, she was one of a number of Devils who refused to yield when the undefeated Stingrays were coming hard late.

#22 Matilda Lange
Midfielder | 170cm | 30/01/2009

Stats: 27 disposals, 2 marks, 5 tackles, 5 clearances, 2 inside 50s, 2 rebound 50s

Starred and gave a glimpse of what is to come with the dual Under 16s MVP and All-Australian crashing and bashing her way around the stoppage to win a truckload of first possession football. An instinctual clearance midfielder, Lange can use either side of her body to thump the ball forward and had 15 disposals to half-time. Of her 26 possessions, 16 of them came off the deck which showed her willingness to scrap hard and fire out the ball to teammates or clear the congestion by foot.

  • Eastern Ranges

Calder Cannons:

#1 Charli Calleia
Midfielder/Defender | 169cm | 28/10/2008

Stats: 12 disposals, 3 marks, 3 tackles, 1 clearance, 4 inside 50s

Is a real competitor and that is endearing to her teammates knowing she will always give 100 per cent effort. Calleia started on-ball then worked into defence where she consistently mopped up and switched play. Though not credited with a rebound 50, Calleia won a lot of her touches in the defensive half of the ground and made good decisions with ball in hand, competing well in the air as well as cracking in at ground level.

#3 Chloe Baker-West
Midfielder | 165cm | 02/02/2007

Stats: 15 disposals, 4 marks, 3 clearances, 2 inside 50s, 5 rebound 50s

The sole National Academy member in the match – with Tayla McMillan and Jordyn Allen both rested for Eastern – Baker-West’s day unfortunately came to an end early just a few minutes into the third term where she copped a clash of knees going into a contest for the ball. Prior to that, Baker-West had been lively throughout the match, and though the first half was a tough one given Eastern’s dominance, the acting captain did all she could to try and wrestle momentum back for her team.

#15 Shauna McElligott
Forward/Midfielder | 162cm | 05/03/2007

Stats: 21 disposals, 4 marks, 5 tackles, 3 clearances, 2 inside 50s, 4 rebound 50s

Has a big job ahead of her in any matches where Baker-West will miss given Jade McLay is already out for the year, but McElligott has risen to be a clear third top-age prospect this season with greater consistency than in year’s past. A lovely kick of the ball – perhaps bar when under immense pressure – McElliott is a 162cm player who competes aerially like they are 170cm-plus, and unlikely a lot of classy types, is not afraid to get her hands dirty as well. Clean at ground level, she ticks a lot of boxes and should be on club radars.

Eastern Ranges:

#4 Asher Fearn-Wannan
Utility | 177cm | 14/12/2007

Stats: 11 disposals, 1 mark, 2 tackles, 9 hitouts, 2 clearances, 6 inside 50s, 2 rebound 50s, 1 behind

Fearn-Wannan just does a little of everything, starting on a wing, rotating into the ruck then pushing forward or assisting in defence, the natural athlete covers the ground exceptionally well. Her vertical leap allows her to compete in the ruck against bigger opponents, and given her athleticism, she follows up well as an additional midfielder who can burst out of the stoppage going forward. Has a few gears to her kicking and is still ironing out the precision, but generally puts the ball into the right spots.

#12 Emily Rankin
Midfielder/Forward | 166cm | 11/05/2008

Stats: 30 disposals, 1 mark, 11 tackles, 6 clearances, 6 inside 50s

Had the ball on a string all day, largely flicking the ball out to runners or looking for the quick one-two in order to create some run and carry from the back half of the ground. Can look a touch awkward kicking out of a stoppage if not balanced, but in the situations where she can get that balance, Rankin can do damage forward of centre. Can use both sides of her body too, with her lightning hands and stoppage smarts the highlights along with her obvious defensive capabilities as evidenced by her 11 tackles.

#31 Isabelle Creaton
Defender | 164cm | 29/01/2007

Stats: 21 disposals, 2 marks, 2 tackles, 2 clearances, 3 inside 50s, 1 goal, 1 behind

Creaton played her best game of the year attacking hard off the defensive line and getting right up the ground to influence. She even kicked a goal off a handball receive from 40m which was a rarity for her. Creaton was earmarked as a top-ager to watch this season, and she has some nice athleticism that clubs love. Is still rounding out her overall game but runs hard and has great speed off the mark and clean hands.

#35 Brylee Anderson
Midfielder | 172cm | 25/03/2008

Stats: 30 disposals, 3 marks, 3 tackles, 6 clearances, 4 inside 50s, 3 goals, 2 behinds

What a performance it was from the bottom-age star and 2024 Under 16s Vic Metro MVP. Anderson had the ball on a string all game and not only impacted at the coalface, but went forward to kick three goals and have a few more chances as well. Two of Anderson’s goals came in the last term and the trick with her when running in is she loves to just steady and lean back onto her preferred side almost visualising the shot she is about to have. Once she did that her attempts never looked like missing, and her several clearances out of the middle were sublime to watch.

#53 Alira Barnard-Rossely
Forward/Midfielder | 166cm | 05/10/2009

Stats: 9 disposals, 1 tackle, 2 inside 50s, 3 goals

The Vic Metro Under 16s talent came in for her debut and made a splash by booting three goals. Yes, it was in a thrashing win, but she worked hard to get into ball-winning positions and none of her majors were easy either. She often either ran onto the loose ball, played on from a free kick to slot it on the run or nailed a major off a step really cleverly. Did get a brief stint in the midfield late and won the ball streaming forward delivering well inside 50.

#54 Zoe Wilkinson
Forward/Midfielder | 170cm | 17/05/2007

Stats: 23 disposals, 3 marks, 7 tackles, 1 clearance, 3 inside 50s, 2 rebound 50s, 1 goal, 1 behind

Though Wilkinson started on-ball, she did her best work forward or just outside the 50 where she was looming as a threat around the big sticks. She only kicked the one goal – which came late with a nice snap over her shoulder while off balance – but there were a few more chances that either fell short or narrowly missed. The contested ball-winner always brings a high-level defensive attitude and she has the traits to be a pressure forward at the next level too.

  • Murray Bushrangers
  • Northern Territory

Murray Bushrangers:

#3 Rain Dodd
Midfielder/Forward | 165cm | 13/01/2007

Stats: 32 disposals, 1 mark, 2 tackles, 4 clearances, 3 inside 50s, 1 rebound 50

Dodd was on track to break the all-time disposals record at half-time when sitting at a massive 25 touches following her 13 and 12-disposal efforts in the first half. Spending more time forward later in the game – as well as others taking over – Dodd finished with the 32 but still had a profound influence on the game, largely extracting the ball from the contest and feeding it out to her teammates with desperation. She was the subject of our Player Focus, so check that out for a full run down on her performance.

>> Player Focus: Rain Dodd

#11 Majella Day
Tall Forward | 176cm | 11/03/2008

Stats: 15 disposals, 3 marks, 2 tackles, 5 hitouts, 5 clearances, 3 inside 50s, 4 goals

New colours, same old Day with the Giants Academy member adding another four majors to her season tally to make it 18 from five games in 2025. She is so smart inside 50, with good hands and speed off the mark making her a nightmare for opposition defenders. Unlucky not to be paid an infringement when held early in the game, she quickly booted her first major from long-range with an open goalsquare. By the end of the match she had a quartet of goals, including a classy checkside from the pocket late in the third term.

#14 Ellie Hall
Defender/Midfielder | 174cm | 07/07/2006

Stats: 27 disposals, 5 marks, 7 tackles, 2 clearances, 6 inside 50s, 3 rebound 50s

A natural accumulator who just does all the right team things, Hall was busy throughout the four quarters and was arguably her side’s most consistent through the entire match. When in defence she provided an intercepting option, then in midfield she used her body well and spread hard. Not a massive extractor of the ball, Hall does her best work in space with an elite tank and a high-level two-way running ability.

#15 Nikhita Spiteri
Midfielder/Forward | 171cm | 20/07/2007

Stats: 24 disposals, 1 mark, 9 tackles, 9 inside 50s, 1 rebound 50

Though Spiteri still had her time around the ball, the tackling machine did spend a lot of time forward as that high half-forward and applied great pressure to the opposition to lock the ball in the front half. She pumped the footy inside 50 time and time again, and refused to give in. Though the blustery conditions posed some problems, Spiteri found her fair share of it and looked to just thump it long and let her forwards do the work.

#24 Rose Bell
Forward | 170cm | 18/03/2008

Stats: 16 disposals, 3 marks, 3 tackles, 1 clearance, 1 inside 50, 2 goals, 4 behinds

Having been the sole focal point for the Bushrangers this year, Bell got to play in more of a pocket role with Day, and it took a little while to find her range with four behinds in a row to start the game. She kicked her first off hands at a forward stoppage showing her class and goal sense, then snapped a second just four minutes later. She kicked on more out on the full midway through the red-hot third term blitz, and would finish with the 2.4 but always providing a dangerous option inside 50.

#39 Skylah McPherson
Forward | 169cm | 22/01/2008

Stats: 20 disposals, 2 marks, 3 tackles, 2 clearances, 5 inside 50s, 2 behinds

A bottom-ager with development to come, McPherson has played some impressive footy of late, but is still raw fundamentally so will continue to build out her game. She is finding the ball well and getting into dangerous positions, but missed a couple of chances including one from close range and another from straight in front, while having a fresh-air attempt at one point. What really stands out about McPherson’s game is her knack for finding gaps in the opposition defence, and she is able to dish off the ball quickly by hand then apply a shepherd.

Northern Territory:

#1 Marika Carlton
Midfielder | 159cm | 03/08/2007

Stats: 11 disposals, 2 marks, 6 tackles, 2 clearances, 3 inside 50s, 2 rebound 50s

The National Academy member has some ultra-exciting moments but is playing inside midfield against bigger and stronger opponents which makes life tough for the smaller Carlton. She will crack in and has explosive speed, but can get bumped off it and has to compete against more readymade frames. Once she gets into space, Carlton can inflict maximum damage, with several bursts into the open and looking to apply some speed to the ball in transition.

#2 Layla May
Wing/Midfielder | 155cm | 14/05/2009

Stats: 14 disposals, 5 marks, 9 tackles, 2 clearances, 2 inside 50s

The Under 16s midfielder has come into her own in the senior team, and like Carlton is a little too undersized to be a midfielder of the future, but has the speed to impact off a wing which is where she started. Her defensive pressure is outstanding and she puts the ball into dangerous spots. Will be one with more time and development that could be both that wing or defensive small forward who can also hit the scoreboard.

#6 Tatyana Perry
Defender/Midfielder | 170cm | 28/02/2006

Stats: 11 disposals, 1 mark, 5 tackles, 1 inside 50, 5 rebound 50s

Added vital experience to the Northern Territory bringing with her what she had learnt in the Oakleigh Chargers program. You can tell she has that wiser head on her shoulders, not panicking or just dumping the ball on the boot when under pressure. Perry has always been a composed user and even when she misses a kick it usually looks graceful in its trajectory. Shared the kick-in duties with McDonald and provided some run from defence, even stepping into the midfield for some minutes.

#8 Peggy Rock
Forward/Midfielder | 166cm | 20/07/2009

Stats: 16 disposals, 1 mark, 9 tackles, 4 clearances, 1 rebound 50

Attacks everything like a bull at a gate and the Under 16s MVP is another 2009-born prospect to keep an eye on over the next two years. Rock loves a fend-off and is clean at ground level, with the capacity to use both sides of her body. She will put the ball into advantageous positions even if at times she can just bomb it for distance. Pressure all game was elite, and she has the power to break through tackles as well.

#25 Danika McDonald
Tall Defender | 174cm | 06/06/2007

Stats: 21 disposals, 5 marks, 10 rebound 50s

Has been the most consistent Northern Territory player across the side’s first two games, playing the toughest role on the last line. She reads the play well and is strong in the air, with a neat kick that can be impactful. At times she could make better decisions with her kicking, but that will come with more experience at the higher level like she has had through the National Academy. Will be a key intercepting force for the Allies at the upcoming national championships.

  • Team
  • Gippsland Power
  • Bendigo Pioneers

Gippsland Power:

#9 Lily Milner
Midfielder/Forward | 172cm | 25/01/2008

Stats: 22 disposals, 3 marks, 4 tackles, 3 clearances, 1 inside 50, 2 rebound 50s, 1 goal, 1 behind

Stepped up when required and got better as the game went on playing in the mid/forward role for the Power given they were three players down from early in the third term. Her kicking is precise and she competes well in the air, showing her frustration when dropping a mark she should have taken at half-back and letting it spill out of bounds. Her class rose to the top in the second half with a great snap through the big sticks as well as a huge run-down tackle in the middle of the ground.

#10 Grace Dillow
Midfielder/Forward | 167cm | 03/06/2008

Stats: 23 disposals, 3 marks, 4 tackles, 4 clearances, 5 inside 50s

Worked in tandem with Milner in the middle and though at times she tried to do a touch too much and got pinged holding the ball or in one instance gave away an encroachment 50m penalty, Dillow was one of Gippsland’s best. She worked hard on the inside, cracked in to win a stack of hardballs, but also spread to the outside to create run and carry. Another player who can use the ball well when given any kind of space, Dillow really had to stand up in the absence of Rebecca Fitzpatrick on the inside later in the game.

#24 Baia Pugh
Forward/Midfielder | 169cm | 28/03/2007

Stats: 20 disposals, 5 marks, 7 tackles, 3 clearances, 4 inside 50s, 5 rebound 50s, 1 goal, 1 behind

Has had a 2025 season to remember and was again lively for the Power up forward with her running patterns and then working up the ground to get around the ball and have an impact. she kicked her goal from a relatively easy set shot but the mark to earn it was strong. She missed a chance in the second term she should have nailed, but Pugh’s work rate and defensive pressure allows her to add much more to a game than just pure scoreboard impact.

#36 Chelsea Sutton
Midfielder/Forward | 169cm | 16/11/2007

Stats: 19 disposals, 3 marks, 5 tackles, 5 clearances, 5 inside 50s, 2 goals

The sole multiple goalkicker for the Power, Sutton was another who had to stand up once Abby Hobson went off, and after kicking her side’s first goal in the opening quarter, kicked a second later in the third. Sutton uses her body well one-on-one and is hard to beat in the air, but will influence defensively with a terrific run-down tackle at one stage too. Can be a little more polished at times but certainly has an impact both in midfield and attack.

Bendigo Pioneers:

#4 Sage Dennis
Midfielder/Defender | 160cm | 22/08/2009

Stats: 12 disposals, 2 marks, 9 tackles, 1 inside 50, 3 rebound 50s

It was another typical performance from Dennis who never takes a backwards step in or around the contest and throws herself at everything with reckless abandonment. Spending time between defence and midfield, she uses the ball cleanly with time and space, and though at full speed or under pressure can refine it further, is able to weight her kicks with nice vision into dangerous spots. Has two more years at the level which is exciting.

#12 Issy Boulton
Midfielder/Defender | 162cm | 21/05/2007

Stats: 34 disposals, 2 marks, 8 tackles, 4 clearances, 6 inside 50s, 7 rebound 50s

Brought her own ball to the game on the weekend and just racked it up from start until finish. Boulton covered the ground well with hard running, and was the one to stand up in the absence of key ball-winners. She took the kickouts at times, had a multi-bounce run down the wing and even won the ball cleanly out of centre stoppages in an all-round performance. Her efficiency was lower than it normally would be given the added contested nature of her ball-winning in the game, but she gave as good as she got, laying eight tackles.

#14 Lacey Nihill
Midfielder/Defender | 172cm | 01/05/2008

Stats: 23 disposals, 3 marks, 3 tackles, 3 clearances, 5 inside 50s, 4 rebound 50s

Added some dare and dash off half-back and through the middle with her ability to breakaway and then sidestep opponents with ease some of her trademark moves. She was often under pressure and had to quickly move the ball on, getting pinged holding the ball at one stage or forced to kick wide, but her determination to break lines was admirable. She has that speed and knack for running on angles to disrupt the defence, with a point of difference to her game.

#23 Ella Jeffrey
Midfielder/Defender | 167cm | 08/08/2007

Stats: 17 disposals, 2 marks, 8 tackles, 4 clearances, 5 rebound 50s

Provided much needed experience in the back half of the ground and around the ball given her fellow Vic Country hub members were out. Jeffrey knows how to effectively distribute the ball from the back half, and though she found herself in contested situations quite a bit, was able to get herself out of trouble and find targets down the field. Laid some strong tackles and lead by example.
