A HANDFUL of first-time vote-getters got on the board in the Rookie Me Central Medal for the Coates Talent League Girls competition across the two games in action from the weekend. Sandringham Dragons and Dandenong Stingrays both came away with wins, as Charlotte Gilmore earned best afield honours to gain her first votes of 2025.
>> SCROLL FOR THE ROUND 11 VOTES
Gilmore and Murray Bushrangers young gun Evie Henley (2027 AFLW Draft) were the two to earn their first ever votes in that clash, while Sandringham Dragons’ Cleo Phillips impressed up forward against the Devils to also poll a vote in that clash. Her teammate and another double bottom-ager in Maya Duane took the five votes ahead of Chloe Williams and Ava Read who found the ball in all thirds of the ground.
Matilda Lange joined the 2009-born party to gain votes for Round 11, with over-ager Ellie Hall continuing her strong 2025 season with three in the Bushrangers’ loss. Other vote-getters were Skylah McPherson (Murray Bushrangers, four votes) and Nikita Harris (Dandenong Stingrays, two votes) with plenty of the leading contenders out of action due to the national championships.
The weekend looms as an intriguing one for the Rookie Me Central Medal race with Vic Country heading to Queensland for the national championships which means the clash between the Geelong falcons and Dandenong Stingrays will not feature a host of top-end prospects.
However with Vic Metro and the Allies both having a bye over the weekend, it means the Tasmania Devils and the five metropolitan regions in action – Calder Cannons, Eastern Ranges, Oakleigh Chargers, Sandringham Dragons and Western Jets – should all have access to their best available talent. The roles then reverse when Metro heads west to take on the Sandgropers on July 6, with all bar Sandringham having to field teams minus their state representatives.
The full leaderboard will be posted later today.
