TOP DRAFT CHOICE

After such an accolade-filled junior career, Priya Bowering has well and truly earned top billing in the most southern state. The talented inside midfielder spent time forward and back across 2025 and played a variety of required roles for her side be it Tasmania Devils or Allies.

Priya Bowering

Key Strengths: Consistency, strength, clean hands

Bowering is one of the safest draft choices in the entire crop. She has a really high floor in terms of her output and upside, and looms as a player you just know will rise to the occasion when challenged at the top level. A natural leader by example, Bowering is so strong and clean around the contest, hard to beat in the air, and has elite athleticism which can often be deceptive given her strength and power. Make no mistake, Bowering is as well-rounded as they come for draft profiles.

OTHERS

There are four other Draft Combine invitees from the Apple Isle that we will run through, starting with National Draft Combine talents Mischa Barwin and Mia Anderson, while strong aerialists Harriet Bingley and Ava Read earned State Draft Combine invites.

Mischa Barwin

Key Strengths: Evasion, footy IQ, X-factor

While likely to play as that forward who rotates into the middle at the next level, Barwin has shown a capacity to also spend time off a wing such is her versatility. The way she moves on-field sees her glide past opponents, maximising the space near her to wrong-foot or ankle-break others before bounding away. She has that natural football presence about her, as well as stacks as X-factor too. A genuine first round possibility.

Mia Anderson

Key Strengths: Clearance work, clean hands, finishing

Since starring at Under 16s level, Anderson went about her business under wraps as a bottom-ager, winning plenty of contested ball and doing her job around the clearances. However in 2025, Anderson added a really impressive outside element to her game, with her finishing on goal a highlight throughout this year. Catapulting herself right up draft boards, Anderson showed she has the outside game to go with her inside strengths, and competes well overhead.

Harriet Bingley

Key Strengths: Marking, strength, one-on-one

The powerful midfielder-forward poses as a strong player in either role, and is a presence when inside 50. While not quite key position height at 174cm, she uses her bigger frame well in one-on-one contests, and has a penetrating kick to clear the danger or take a ping on goal. Has represented the All-Stars against the National Academy on both occasions this year, and had her moments for the Allies as well.

Ava Read

Key Strengths: Aerial ability, kicking, versatility

Read transformed herself from a pure goalkicker to a versatile player who can roll out across all three lines. Predominantly in defence throughout 2025, Read did float forward at times to kick the odd goal, and then even stood at some centre clearances, or pinch-hit in the ruck. Has a nice leap, one of the safest contested markers despite her lighter frame, and and effective and long kick that allows her to convert what opportunities she does get.

SUMMARY

Tasmania has a host of possible draft prospects for the 2025 AFLW Draft, headlined by the three National Draft Combine invitees. Bowering won the Allies’ MVP at the AFLW Under 18 Championships, while Barwin and Anderson can inflict plenty of damage both offensively and defensively. Expect all three to go, while both Bingley and Read have their fans after earning their combine invites as well.
