2025 RMC Medal Final Leaderboard: Bown crowned winner

OAKLEIGH Chargers’ dynamo Chloe Bown has held on in one of the best Rookie Me Central Medal finishes of all-time to claim the gong and add to her ever-growing cabinet of accolades in 2025. Bown took the lead off Chloe Baker-West in Round 15, and then despite being relatively contained in the final round, managed to fend-off runners-up Ellie Hall and Scarlett Johnson.

Bown lead by four votes heading into the final Round 18 and looked comfortable, but while Eastern Ranges dominated polling in that game, she still came out on top with Hall polling three votes to go to 41, one shy of Bown’s 42 votes for the season. Johnson was unable to win heading into the final round, but a remarkable four-goal performance and clear best on ground resulted in the Knights’ star drawing level with Hall in second.

Greater Western Victoria (GWV) Rebels’ talent Maggie Johnstone polled two in Round 18 to be a clear fourth with 37 votes, while past leader Baker-West also managed to add to her tally and go outright fifth. She was just ahead of the likes of Geelong Falcons duo Georgia Tyrrell, Rebels’ over-ager Isabella Davies and Ranges’ bottom-ager Brylee Anderson.

Completing the top 10 – or top 12 really – were a trio of bottom-agers including Western Jets best and fairest winner Tayla Olivieri, Murray Bushrangers defender Rose Bell and hard-running Dandenong Stingrays utility Alice Cunnington. More bottom-agers rounded out the top 15 with Bailee Martin and Emily Rankin prominent players in next year’s draft, and Maya Duane – a 2009-born prospect – sharing equal 13th with the pair after polling 25 votes for the season.

Of the other sides, Bendigo Pioneers’ Lacey Nihill impressively polled 23 votes to lead all-comers for her team, with she, Issy Boulton and Ella Jeffrey racking up a combined 58 of the Pioneers’ 77 votes. Gippsland Power’s Grace Dillow finished on top in a closely-run race for her team with top-age National Draft Combine invitees Ella Stoddart and Abby Hobson not far behind. Murray’s Nikhita Spiteri (20 votes) also polled exceptionally well.

Of the metropolitan teams, top-age draft prospects Josephine Bamford (19 votes), Jordyn Allen (18) and Tayla McMillan (17) were all not far off the top 20, with Northern Knights’ Olivia Gorman (24) finishing in 16th, and Marlo Graham (18) also polling well. Sandringham Dragons duo Macy Watkins (23) and Chloe Williams were in the top 20, while from the Apple Isle, Matilda Lange (18) and Ava Read (17) all polled prominently.

Looking at the total team votes, Eastern Ranges were clearly the best picking up a combined 147 votes for the 2025 season, six clear of Oakleigh Chargers (141) and 16 ahead of eventual grand finalists Dandenong Stingrays (131). Murray Bushrangers (122), Gippsland Power (113) and Northern Knights (112) all polled prominently, while Sandringham Dragons (106), GWV Rebels (102) and Geelong Falcons (101) also cracked the ton.
