2025 AFLW Trade wrap: Day 2
NORTH Melbourne was the common denominator on day two of the AFL Women’s Trade Period as the reigning back-to-back premiers made a couple of exchanges. The Roos traded out a talented fringe player who has potential but has not cracked into their squad, as well as moving into next year’s first round and out of the current top 20.

Blues grab trade capital as Roos look to 2026
Carlton gains: Pick 19 and 2026 second-rounder (North Melbourne)
North Melbourne gains: 2026 first-rounder (Carlton) and 2026 third-rounder (Carlton)
North Melbourne got busy in terms of shuffling around its selections for next year, moving on its second-rounder in a downgrade for Carlton’s third-rounder, but also grabbing access to the Blues’ first-rounder next year for the Roos’ Pick 19 this year.
Given the Roos are at the peak of their powers now, North has traded into next year and out of this year in order to have an additional first-rounder when both more players have retired, and also into a stronger draft crop. Carlton has grabbed a selection to go with its current Pick 16 in order to trade for the likes of Gold Coast pair, Lauren Bella and Claudia Whitfort.
Stubs becomes a Tiger club in first player movement
Richmond gains: Georgia Stubs and a 2026 fourth-rounder (North Melbourne)
North Melbourne gains: 2026 fourth-rounder (Richmond)
Athletic but unlucky Georgia Stubs has a second chance to make her mark at AFLW level after being unable to squeeze into the Kangaroos’ juggernaut over her first two seasons. The first was ruled out by a dislocated ankle, and the second she could not force her way into the blue and white stripes.
However the explosive speed she possesses – along with great defensive pressure is what the Tigers have been crying out for. At the swap of fourth rounders next season, Richmond have grabbed an untapped talent who could add value to the side. Stubs has genuine midfield potential but could easily play off half-back as she did for the Eastern Ranges in her top-age season.
