Showcase rounds headline SANFL Women’s fixture

FIVE showcase rounds featuring all eight SANFL Women’s sides is the highlight of the 2026 fixture that was released earlier this month. The showcase rounds include four consecutive matches at one venue on a Saturday, taking place across the state allowing different sides to host the special day.

Rounds 3 (Coopers Stadium), 6 (Thomas Farms Oval), 8 (Revo Fitness Oval formerly Prospect Oval), 10 (Stratarama Stadium) and 12 (Richmond Oval) all play host to the respective rounds which will be a huge bonus for the sides at the gate to welcome four times the audience at the ground.

The first weekend of the year is not until April 18 – a later start to align slightly closer with the AFL Women’s season – and will take place a week after the SANFLW takes on the VFLW at Stratarama Stadium on April 11. Just over a month later on May 16, the same state side will travel to Perth to tackle the WAFLW for the third consecutive season.

Round 1 sees two double-headers take place simultaneously across Maughan Thiem Kia Oval and Magain Stadium, the homegrounds of this year’s grand finalists. Central District faces North Adelaide at the former before Woodville-West Torrens hosts Sturt, while down south, West Adelaide faces Glenelg before the Panthers meet Norwood.

The much anticipated first grand final rematch will take place in Round 6 at the neutral Thomas Farms Oval in what promises to be an unforgettable day. The clash directly before sees new Norwood coach Ben Hunt face his former Central District side for the first time.

Two byes for the season – other than the state games – take place across June 13 and July 11, the latter leading into the last month of the home and away season. The 2026 SANFL Women’s finals series begins on the weekend of Saturday, August 15, with a three-week post-season culminating in a grand final on the weekend of Saturday, August 29.
