TOP 5s | 2026 South Australian Preseason Testing

A BUNCH of South Australian state academy members have impressed at the recent preseason testing combine, as several prospects featured across the leaderboards. Though, it was Eagles top-ager Hunter Rowe who stole the show with a high of three top-five finishes out of the handful of events.

Rowe could not be separated from Eagles teammate Seb Cavallaro atop the 20m sprint standings, stopping the clock at 2.891 seconds. He further showcased his speed in the agility test with a time of 8.004 seconds, and soared high in the standing vertical leap to record the equal-fifth best jump (72cm).

No one rose higher than Central Districts top-ager Connor Gammie, who notched up the best standing (79cm) and running (98cm) jumps. Fellow Bulldog Jesse Paul was also among the small group to produce top-five results in multiple tests, including a third-place finish in the agility test.

State squad member Cain Florance topped an all-South Adelaide podium in said event, completing the course in 7.911 seconds. He also landed in equal-fifth for his 88cm running vertical jump to be the only player in the state program to have chalked up more than one top-five result.

Souths teammate and bottom-age Port Adelaide NGA prospect Zemes Pilot was also amongst the action, slotting into fourth for the running vertical jump (89cm). It was no surprise to see basketball convert Kale Matthews-Hampton just behind him in equal-fifth, jumping 88cm.

Meanwhile, top-age pair Memphis Webb (75cm) and Harry Franz (72cm) were at the pointy end for the standing leap. Sturt bottom-ager Taj Garrett impressed in the yo-yo test having reached level 21.6, bowing out just one level behind a trio of frontrunners.
