2026 AFLW Draft Q&A: Addison West

WHILE her dad Troy is a Williamstown legend and her uncle Scott is an AFL Hall of Famer and Western Bulldogs champion, Addison West is forging her own career in Melbourne’s west. The Western Jets talent has football surging through her veins, but has made her own name over the last 12 months with an impressive bottom-age season to earn Vic Metro hub honours.

We spoke to West at the Talent League Girls Preseason Testing Day about her family legacy and journey, game and inspirations, as well as the goals she has set herself for 2026.

AW: “Yeah i played basketball and netball growing up.”

Q: What was behind the decision to then take up footy?

AW: “I don’t know, I quit basketball and all my friends were playing footy so I thought I’d just join for fun at my local club.”
