SUMMARY: The Baldivis junior is a big-bodied midfielder with a healthy appetite for the contest. Sturrock plays a lot like North Melbourne star Ben Cunnington as he is often burying himself into contests to win the ball for his team, and feed it out to the outside runners. In 15 games for Peel’s Colts’ team, Sturrock finished fifth in the WAFL Colts Coaches Award and seventh in the Jack Clarke Medal after averaging 23 possessions, six tackles and four marks. He also pushed himself into Peel’s League team and he did very well across five games, averaging 14 possessions, 3 marks and three tackles, with his best game coming against East Perth (19 possessions, three marks & three tackles). He only played the one game for Western Australia at the National Under 18 Championships but he showed promise with 18 possessions, six tackles, and three clearances against the eventual champions South Australia. The club that picks up Sturrock will have a ready-made inside midfielder who has an unmatched appetite for the contest.
