SUMMARY: After playing primarily in the forward line as a bottom-ager in 2017, Powell made the move into the midfield in 2018 and the transition was a fruitful one. In 15 games for the Thunder’s Colts team, Powell averaged 13 possessions, four tackles, three marks and booted 11 goals as he rotated between the midfield and the forward line, and at times situated in defence. He produced notable performances against East Fremantle (19 possessions, six tackles, three marks and a goal), Perth (17 possessions and two goals), and South Fremantle (17 possessions, six tackles, and a goal). For Western Australia, he averaged 10 possessions (four contested), three marks and two tackles with his best game coming against Vic Country when he gathered nine possessions, took four marks, laid four tackles and recorded three rebounding 50s in an excellent defensive game. The club that picks up Powell will have an excellent utility who has shown an adaptability to play in any position on the ground.
