#45
Jack Tomkinson
height: 200cm
weight: 100kg
D.O.B: 07-06-1999
Leagues: AFL U18 Championships
STRENGTHS: Size, versatility, strength, ruck work, tackling
IMPROVEMENTS: Speed, endurance
SUMMARY: Hulking Brisbane Lions Academy tall, Jack Tomkinson uses his big frame to hold his own well in ruck contests, while also harbouring the ability to push forward and clunk big marks. His sheer size is a clear strength at 200cm and 105kg, and it certainly helped as he came up against the likes of more mobile Vic Country combo Riley Bowman and Bailey Williams in the National Championships. While he uses that to his advantage, the Queenslander is also genuinely good in the ruck, and continues to work on his craft. Tomkinson is also willing to get his hands dirty below his knees, throwing his frame around in tackles and making his presence felt. Like many rucks of the old school mould, Tomkinson is not exactly a natural athlete, and could certainly improve on his speed (3.31 seconds over 20m) and endurance (19.4 yo-yo test). If he is to use his versatility to its fullest extent, Tomkinson has clear areas to work on with a pre-season which would add to the already rare natural traits he already has.
