Recap
Pat Gheller’s scouting notes:
Western Jets
#9 Daniel Foley: Had flashes of really good line breaking attack with the footy making the jets look dangerous early, couple of kicks let him down but understandable in the conditions.
#16 Nicholas Stuhldreier: Bottom-ager positions himself well when the ball comes into the defensive 50 and reads it well, found a lot of the ball across the back half and generally used it well. Repelled Dandenong’s attack on multiple occasions particularly in the last quarter when it was coming in frequently, so probably saved the jets some embarrassment in what could’ve been a bigger loss.
#20 Wilson Berry: Found a bit of the ball and used it alright considering the conditions. Takes time with his disposal which is important, seems generally composed.
#43 Brodie Romensky: Finds the ball with ease and tackles fairly hard. Good size and imposed himself well on the contest. Without knowing the stats probably would’ve had the most on the ground, hurt factor is a question mark but very hard to judge in the windy conditions.
Dandenong Stingrays
#7 Max Klevercamp: Looked reasonably composed under pressure of conditions. Strong in the contests. A few nice clearances which were important given the conditions.
#13 Tom Jok: Very good user of the ball with damaging hands and athleticism in the contests. Goes missing a bit but is a joy to watch when on. His second quarter was terrific on Sunday kicking into the wind, and even though he wasn’t as prominent in other parts of the game, something special always seems to happen when he’s around the ball.
#15 Sam Fowler: Good finish from the advantage in tough conditions. Seems to have enough ability and looked to be able to hit targets reasonably well in tough conditions, seemed to go missing for patches though.
#42 Daniel Allsop: Very lively around goals, solid all day even into the wind. A few good pickups and a very good finish with the wind from 45. Great finishing prowess in tough conditions.
