Few running defenders can claim to have matched Aaron Sharkie's output in 2025. The Oakleigh Chargers prospect forced his way back into the Vic Metro setup having represented his state in younger age groups, while also thriving at AGSV and Coates Talent League level. Endurance is Sharkie's standout trait, and it lends to his sheer volume of possessions each week.

Finding a home across half-back, Sharkie's run-and-gun style suited that of Oakleigh. He would often spark transitional play by taking off at a high tempo and carrying the ball forward, looking to link up with teammates along the way. Sharkie's running power and attacking instincts made him a threat all the way up the ground, capable of breaching both 50m arcs.

As a natural accumulator, perhaps Sharkie's impact-per-possession is a little lower than others, but he is capable of producing line-breaking play to hurt the opposition. He is accustomed to hitting sharp short kicks or linking by hand, so can perhaps work on finding that penetration more easily, as sometimes he can dump the ball forward when running himself into pressure.
