Another bolter out of Western Australia, Baxter Philip lit up his state's draft combine to put his name even further into the draft conversation. The lightly built Perth midfielder missed out on state Under 18 selection, but put his best foot forward with the Demons to crack two games in both the Reserves and League grades. Otherwise, he plied his trade across 12 outings in the WAFL Colts, showcasing the speed and dare which are sure to catch the eye going forward.

The nippy midfielder averaged 18.5 disposals playing among his peers, taking the game on and translating all of is high-end athleticism on-field. His shining results at the state combine saw him rank in the top two across all six categories, taking out the standing and running vertical jumps. That kind of all-round acumen is sure to make recruiters take note, though his footballing prowess got him there in the first place.

Still quite light and with plenty of development left to make, Philip is exciting, albeit raw. He may have to adjust his skillset to play in roles at either end of the ground before building out a frame which stands up to the rigours of senior midfield play. He was trialled deep forward and speed is a key factor there, potentially shaping as his future home.
