Brodie Atkins made a name for himself as one of the most prolific tacklers and contested ball winners in the Coates Talent League this year. His hard-edged approach was crucial to his and his side’s successes this year. 

It was no coincidence that Vic Country’s fortunes improved when the Gippsland ball-winner was thrown into the mix. The inside midfielder broke into Country’s National Championships side after game one, averaging 22 disposals across the remaining three matches and playing a pivotal role in their back-half resurgence. 

Atkins capped off his consistent year by claiming the Morrish Medal, as well as being included in the starting 18 of Rookie Me Central’s Team of the Year as an on-baller. 

The type with a high floor but low ceiling, Atkins is solid without boasting the upside and flair of others. If he finds a home come draft time, whatever club takes him will know exactly what they’re getting.
