A scramble for key defensive depth put Bryce Sanders on the draft radar this year, as did his rapid rise through the South Australian pathway. Having played local footy last year, he quickly made an impression in North Adelaide's Under 18 side - ironically as a forward - and earned a state call-up. There, he played out the full National Championships down back.
Sanders' versatility is one of the many strings to his bow. He booted six goals in his first four Under 18 appearances and seems to be a natural forward, but has shown plenty of upside down back. Either way, Sanders' aerial ability is central to his impact, able to hold his own one-on-one and clunk strong contested marks. He's also quite mobile for his size and has a strong vertical leap.
Having stepped up to each level with relative aplomb, Sanders will only get better with more experience under his belt. He broke through for two Reserves games and his production was relatively limited both there and at state level, hinting that there remains room for growth. Endurance is one area which will help his cause, and allow for more sustained or diverse contributions in-game.
DRAFT RANGE: Late/Rookie
