Central District's Caitlin Wendland has been a big improver in the 2023 SANFL Women's season, having worked her way consistently into the League side last year, largely as a forward but rotating through the midfield. In 2023, Wendland has spent more time on-ball than inside 50, and her production has rapidly risen to be one of the more consistent players in the competition. Still only 19 years-old, Wendland is one of triplets playing at the Bulldogs, but has come into her own by averaging 17.7 disposals, 3.2 marks, 4.0 clearances, 3.2 inside 50s and 6.2 tackles in the first six rounds. She has a good all-round game and though there are some areas to still tidy up such as her decision making, Wendland can have an impactful kick and brings the defensive pressure wherever she goes.
