Calsher Dear
height: 195cm
weight: 87kg
D.O.B: 04-08-2005
Leagues: Coates Talent League Boys
STRENGTHS:
+ Aerial ability
+ Scoreboard impact
+ Upside
+ Versatility
IMPROVEMENTS:
- Consistency
- Rawness
While much of Hawthorn's father-son focus will be on first round prospect Will McCabe, Calsher Dear - the son of late 123-game Hawk Paul - has quietly gone about his business building some great form at the backend of the season. The key position forward is still raw, but at 195cm with a nice leap and the ability to impact the scoreboard, his upside is evident.
Though consistency still evades him at different points, his Talent League Grand Final - where he kicked the first goal of the game - was an indicator of his high potential. He is one who could garner attention from other clubs in the National Draft, but the Hawks will hope to get him late.
Given his rate of development already in 2023, it would not be surprising to see him go to another level in an elite program. He was one of many Sandringham talls who could get a hold of the opposition this year and was invited to the Victorian state combine, but did not test due to illness.
DRAFT RANGE: Late
