Charlie Harrop

height: 186cm

weight: 80kg

D.O.B: 13-07-2005

Leagues: AFL U18 Championships, Coates Talent League Boys

STRENGTHS:

+ Ball use
+ Leading patterns
+ Marking
+ Work rate

IMPROVEMENTS:

- Athleticism
- Midfield exposure

Captain of the APS title-winning Haileybury side, Charlie Harrop is a high-energy forward who regularly outworks his direct opponent with repeat leads. His teammates generally reward his effort and he repays the favour with a strong set of hands, but is just as capable when following up at ground level and exiting congestion. When Harrop isn’t close enough to take a shot at goal himself, his ball use by foot is quite reliable and penetrative, able to turn on a dime and hit targets inside 50.

Harrop has been impactful on the scorecard this season, registering five goals from his three games for Vic Metro - three coming in the final appearance against Vic Country - and 10 goals in his six Talent League games, with his only goalless game coming on return from injury. His one-on-one craft is an area for improvement, which would allow him to become a more well rounded marking option. Harrop’s size for his role, which is similar to that of a tall link-up forward, may be a hindrance at the next level, and he will need to expand aspects of his game and athletic profile. He played in midfield for Haileybury, so perhaps can perhaps adapt his craft there.
