A late call-up to Western Australia's Under 18 squad, Connor McDonald proved hard to deny and continued his run of feats with a state draft combine invite. The Perth midfielder is the brother of Sydney Swans forward Logan, possessing some very different traits, but also a few similar ones. 

Showing his wares as a high accumulator at PSA level as skipper of Aquinas College, McDonald was also one of Perth's prime movers in the five Colts games he managed there. He also broke through for a single Reserves berth, bagging 12 touches. He averaged 15 in two state games for WA, and an impressive 25.4 for the Demons having started his season in fine form at Colts level.

With competition for spots proving fierce in Western Australia's engine room, McDonald was also made to prove his worth in other roles. He displayed clean hands overhead and the ability to hit the scoreboard throughout the year, but could also translate his game to a steady role behind the ball. While not the high-end prospect that his elder brother once was, McDonald possesses some strong fundamentals and has shown good improvement as a top-ager vying for his shot in the big leagues.
