A Suns Academy prospect on the radar outside the core group, Cooper Collins has plenty of upside. He can play multiple positions, but primarily serves as a hybrid forward or defender. His best football this year came as a medium forward, where he was able to exploit taller, slower-moving key backs with his agility, and smaller defenders with his size and strength.

Collins averaged two goals a game in his four Coates Talent League outings for the Gold Coast Academy this year, with his best performance coming against the Northern Knights in Round 7, where he kicked four majors on his trusty left boot and had 21 disposals. His efforts on that day helped seal a memorable win.

He shapes as the heir apparent of tenacious utility Nick Holman, but with a slew of other Gold Coast Academy prospects ahead of him in the pecking order, he may either end up at another club or have to wait for his chance via the Rookie Draft. Either way, there is plenty of potential to uncover for the youngster, who played eight VFL games this year.
