Darcy Petersen has been a staple of the West Australian state team from Under 16s through to the 18s squad in 2024, nailing down a role down back. The red-headed defender is hard to miss out on the field with his fierce attack on the aerial ball and ability to make eye-catching intercepts.
Decently mobile at 193cm, Petersen also works to rebound the ball when able to consistently get his hands on it. He made three appearances for the state side this year where he largely played lockdown roles, like on dangerous South Australian spearhead Tyler Welsh, who he kept to three touches.
Petersen injured his MCL in the third state game against Vic Metro and was sidelines for two months, but managed to get back on the park for a pair of WAFL Reserves outings with Peel Thunder. He is a capable key back, albeit a little undersized, and can work on his conditioning with a clean bill of health.
