Ella Morris is a former Sydney Swans Academy graduate who plied her trade successfully at Pennant Hills before moving to Casey Demons this season to test herself at another level. Unfortunately injury would restrict her season to just three games in the 2023 season, meaning she had limited exposure at the level. Still, her form in the AFL Sydney Premier Division stacks up, as one of the more promising juniors in the competition.
Morris' game is underpinned by her defensive pressure, with her ability to run down opponents and fiercely attack the contest. She is primarily an inside midfielder, but can spread to the outside as well, with her clean hands in traffic and under pressure a feature of her game. Her kicking is technically sound but could improve when playing inside, though it is largely her production that would need to lift at the next level.
She does have plenty of understanding of the game, with nice footy smarts, and can finish in front of goal. For the Casey Demons, Morris only averaged the 4.3 disposals, and 2.0 tackles, but did not spend the same time in midfield as she did at Pennant Hills. Though the stats may seem poor, her traits are good enough to be considered, and having only turned 21 in October, Morris is young enough to have plenty of time to develop.
