Bendigo Pioneers co-captain Hunter Wright provided on-field leadership throughout the year with canny positioning and reliable work rate. He worked particularly well in tandem with precocious on-baller Cody Walker, often magnanimously relinquishing A1 status to the bottom-ager when he was running hot. 

Wright possesses a balanced midfield game with the ability to play as a big-bodied ball winner while providing a forward option. The midfielder forward uses his penetrative left foot to find leading teammates inside 50 and, when swung forward, to impact the scoreboard. Wright ended up with 10 goals and an average of 20 disposals per game for the 2025 Coates Talent League season.

Unlike some of the best midfielders-forwards in the AFL, Wright doesn’t quite have the explosive power or speed to match his sizeable frame. He is more of a marking option up forward, while at stoppages he serves as a distributor to outside runners. That being said, apropos of his impressive form throughout the year, he’s going to be a serious consideration for multiple clubs.
