Woodville-West Torrens playmaker Jack Cook has stepped up to every challenge this year. He took out the McCallum Tomkins Medal from just nine SANFL Under 18 appearances, helped South Australia take out the national title as co-vice-captain, and then made the jump to League level. The son of former Adelaide player and current club physiotherapist, Tim, Cook junior was also a premiership player with the Eagles in 2024.
Cook has plenty of traits suited to a role off half-back, but is just as capable of becoming a reliable contested ball winner in midfield. He is often times the designated kicker out of defence, providing supportive runs to overlap and take ground by foot. In midfield, he's clean at ground level and agile to move from in to out, racking up possessions at will. He also finds a balance defensively and is accustomed to high tackle numbers.
While he works hard around the ground, Cook is looking to build his endurance tank and can work on cutting his 2km time under seven minutes. He wins plenty of ball at the contest and is entrusted with kick-ins, so that builds his accumulation factor, which has been consistent throughout the last two seasons. He looms as a value late pick who will give his all and is capable of slotting in across multiple roles at the next level.
