SUMMARY: One of the most exciting prospects in this year’s draft, Carter first burst onto the scene when he kicked the goal of the 2016 AFL U16s Championships – where he gathered the ball on the defensive flank and ran the length of the field to kick it. The following year, Carter suffered a knee injury ruling him out for the season and in 2018 he transferred from Claremont to Peel, and the move paid dividends. In 12 games for Peel, he averaged 16 possessions, four marks and four tackles, with some outstanding performances coming against East Fremantle (22 possessions, five marks and four tackles) and Perth (23 possessions, seven marks, six inside 50s and five tackles). For Western Australia, he averaged 13 possessions, four marks and three tackles as an attacking rebounding defender, with his best game coming against the Allies (14 possessions, four marks, three tackles and two clearances). At his best Carter uses his speed, skill and smarts to penetrate his way through the opposition’s defensive zone and find teammates in better positions.
