SUMMARY: Lachlan McDonnell played predominantly forward early in the year, as a high half-forward at times, then progressed to a wing during the APS season. He stayed there for the finals series and became an important player for the Stingrays in transition, and was one of the Stingrays' best during the National Under 18 Championships when they were missing their top stars. He has great speed, uses the ball well, spreads hard and hits the scoreboard. At the recent State Combine, McDonnell clocked under three seconds in the 20m sprint, showing off his on-field speed in the testing arena. While he could find more of the football and lay more tackles, his offensive drive and spread provide something special for clubs looking for that player who can slot in between the arcs.
