Luca Slade is a player who punches well above his weight division, with the 72kg midfielder/forward matching it against some much bigger bodies. His strength allows him to apply plenty of defensive pressure which is his bread and butter, and he runs out games strongly thanks to a high endurance base.

Complimenting Slade's running capacity and ability to drive his legs on the attack is his aerial ability At 181cm, he's gutsy and deceptively strong overhead. He finds enough of the ball to have an influence on games, and can play in multiple positions which helps.

Though at times his kicking can be a little awry, and his composure when under pressure remains an area of improvement, Slade has proven himself over the last few seasons to have some draftable traits and earned a State Draft Combine invite. Clubs who value his work ethic and hardness may dub him a rookie chance.
