Leagues: SANFL Under 18s, AFL U18 Championships

Tall wingmen are in vogue at AFL level currently, and Oscar Kregar is one who potentially fits the bill. Measuring up at 190cm, the West Adelaide prospect uses his height to advantage on the outside, helping his side link between the arcs. He managed 11 SANFL Under 18 outings in Bloods colours this year, earning the call-up for a single game with South Australia at the Under 18 National Championships.

Perhaps a draft combine invite made on upside and scope for development, Kregar is a handy aerial target in general play. Hardly a high accumulator, with no games over 20 disposals, the 18-year-old did well to average five marks and was often utilised as a marking outlet from the kick-ins. So much so, he racked up a whopping 12 grabs against Sturt in Round 12. Like most wingmen, Kregar was also able to work the ball into either arc, averaging two inside 50s and nearly the same amount of rebounds.

Though there are some exciting traits to work with already, there is plenty left for Kregar to enhance if he is to make the step up to top level football. As it stands, he is more of a player who fits a prototype rather than being the full finished product. Thus, clubs will likely prioritise the upside in Kregar and back themselves to get the best out of him.
